-- stretch-mark creams: after research, i buy "palm cocoa butter" stretch-mark lotion and will spread over my body every evening after bath, before sleepy.
well the gynae mentions stretch-marks is really individual basis. so just keep the tummy moisturise and try not to skretch when you feel itchy.
KK promotes "palm cocoa butter" in the pharmacy and at a good price. so i buy this. so far usage so good.
-- maternity clothes: honestly i will try not to get maternity clothes as far as concern. bought 2 maternity pants for work, as i have many comfortable tops to go with the bottoms.
bought a maternity dress on discount. the rest of the dresses are from my mum.
bought a couple of trendy hot-mama tops from warehouse... hehe
intend to get some dresses that are flair down from the waist, and revealing on the chest area. well, tat's my style.
see how it goes. jeff and me go to the maternity-exchange shop to look at rental maternity clothes. the clothes on rental also expensive..... and the clothes dun really catch my eye. so decided not to rent.
perhaps when i am heavy and need a dress for attending wedding/parties and the current wardrobe cannot fit, i will wrap a pc of niece cloth around me or rent from the shop. honest, not kidding.

Household arrangement: Lean management
after the discussion with both mums, jeff and me are now looking into household arrangement.
with christmas, new year & CNY seasons coming, we shall have a round of lean management of household stuff & clean-up before bb arrives.
-- living room & store-room: space is still our priority, and we will stick to that.
-- kitchen: some arrangements will be needed and more slow-cookers and pots will come in, as we foresee more stewing coming up. lean is still our priority, and not congestion. the toilet in the kitchen will be for diaper-wash, soaking miscellaneous washing activity.
-- master bed-room: not much change. most prob will add a babycot's place.
-- entertainment room: some arrangements is needed, and we shall have another babycot in this room, so that jeff still can get himself entertained while taking care of bb during weekends and evenings, and i can sleep on the mattress, while jeff gets entertained by his computer, ps2, x-box, etc, with bb in the same small room.
-- 3rd room: this room is empty. will get a sofa bed & mattress for any mum who wans to stay overnight. will get a tv in the room as well, and a stack of cheap lean cupboards for putting necessities and bb stuff.
tentatively this should be the arrangement.

Open Discussion: Confinement plus BB-care
to be honest, i have hear many genuine stories of confinement ladies, MILs etc and new-mums having loads of argument over confinement and bb-care.
analysing the situations, i tink nobody is really in the wrong shoes. everyone is kan cheong over new-borns and have their own best way and approach to provide for the bb. not seeing eye-to-eye brings about problems.
i have not experience this as yet, and so far my relationship with both mums are still ok. honestly i hope not to jeopardise this relationship. have been talking with jeff for some time, and finally on the weekend that has just passed, we have an open discussion with mum and MIL at in-laws place.
Confinement: Confinement lady cost about $1800-2500. And i heard that babies born in the chinese month Nov till CNY, confinement lady will ask for $500 more as market rate, as year-end is baby-boom period. after i learn about this, i am ?!?!?! puzzled.
-- we will have both mums to do confinement for me.
a)MIL is 48 years old and she is experience with cooking and bb-care. so she will cook and help in taking care of the bb for me, and she stays a few blocks away, so walking back home not a problem.
b)my mum will take care of me and with other light household chores.
i will split $2300 between 2 of them, with MIL getting more. both agreed. foods, diapers etc will be aside.
i have bring out the topic that we will have argements along the way, but please trash it out as long as not happy. well easier said than done. wait till actual situations and we shall see.
BB-care: MIL is our best option and everyone agrees. my mum is physically not able to take care of a new-born but she would like to have more time seeing her grandchild.
after discussion, i understand my mum likes to do her housework in the morning, and my MIL likes to do her housework after dinner in the evening.
so before we go work, bb will be in MIL's care. we will bring the bb home in the evening. since our house is very near, not an issue.
my mum's place is 2 bus-stops away, not very far either. if my mum wans to see her grandchild, she shall call my MIL and go her place from afternoon onwards.
if anytime my MIL needs to run errands or go mahjong in the afternoon, she will meet my mum at my place ard 2pm, and my mum will take care of bb at my place in the afternoon. when we are home, we will send her back.
mainly we will pay my MIL for bb-care. will reimburse my mum in accordance if she takes care of bb more.

my mummy's dresses of 20 years
my mum comes to my house last week and passes me 3 dresses. she tells me they are around 20 years or older and she has washes them. the clothes still look new and they are not maternity dresses.
my mum tells me during her time, there is a trend to wear like chinese singer "Feng(4) Fei(1)Fei(1)", with flair dresses from waist down and hats.
the dresses are quite pretty actually and 1 of them if black-and-white pokka dots. i wear them to office, and everyone says the dresses are pretty. (well i always wear black pants and normal tops to work, hence when colleagues see me in dresses, they say i look "extremely" different.)
i thank my mum, and she indeed maintain her dresses well.
i ask her why she never throws them away, she says not spoilt and she already has at the back of her mind to pass to me since she knows she has a daughter years ago. :) that sounds sweet.

What-to-eat ; what-not-to-eat
As i start to wear maternity clothes and more people at work and in my personal circle of relatives and frens who koe i am pregnant, they have been warmly telling me advices of what-to-do-and-nots, what-to-eat-and-nots.
i hear all these comments with open minds and ears, and take it as a good learning curve as i go through the experience.
back in my mind, likewise jeff's quote "everyting can eat, just eat in moderations", i will just eat foods that i want to eat, and make sure i dun overdose on certain foods.
basically other than certain foods that i avoid like herbal soups, "cold foods" like chinese tea, pineapple and clams, i practically eat everything else. cold drinks, mala hotpot, sushi i still continue and in moderations. that is my thinking and i will just stick to it.
learning to enjoy my pregnancy, and am starting to schedule more "atas" eating appointments like buffets, high-teas etc. :)

Bigger appetite
my appetite in november has increased quite a bit. i can eat more meals, and we have tried to stock up snacks and fruits at home and both at work.
am trying to eat healthily as well, as i also hope not to put on too much weight that will be difficult to shed later.
jeff is now more happy to have meals with me, as i dun have to snear at his foods or cover my nose or sit further away from him when we have meals together.
parents are starting their "exaggerating" ordeal of cooking and stuffing me with bird nests and soups. in order to prevent me eating maggie noodles at night, while feeling hungry, both mums make an effort to cook soups and place extras in the fridge.
so if i am hungry, i can cook the noodles or mee suan using the soup they cook, so consider healthy. they are really very effort, and i wonder i will do that for my future kids or in-laws. nevertheless, i feel their concern warmly.

recent cravings....
1) my work place is at tuas gul circle. i go back to work just on the mondae and tuesdae that passes.
on mondae when i am queueing to board the bus at jurong bus interchange, i have a sudden craving for coconut rice, yes nasi lemak.
i actually buy floss bread for breakfast on sundae, but i have no appetite for tat at all.
the craving is so strong. so i decide to buy a packet at jurong point, even though i miss the bus.
the craving goes the same on tuesdae and yesterdae during deepavali.
2) durians: these few days i feel like eating durians after dinner at night. it is a strong craving as well. i do have mangoes in my fridge, but cannot substitute the craving for durians.
now is not the durian season, so balestier has no durians. jeff has to drive me to geylang, and i always buy $5 of durians. i love the sweet, bitter and meaty type.
strange.
